MADRID — Real Sociedad couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead at Leganes on Friday, conceding late in a 2-2 draw and missing a chance to keep its perfect away start in the Spanish league.

Sociedad, which won 2-1 at Villarreal in the first round, took a 2-0 lead by the 17th minute at Butarque Stadium.

Midfielder David Zurutuza opened for the visitors in the 11th and Asier Illarramendi added to the lead six minutes later. But Moroccan midfielder Nabil El Zhar scored twice after halftime to give the hosts the draw.

"We gave away two goals early," said El Zhar, who has already matched his goal total from last season, adding that his team had to be "focused from the first minute."

Sociedad had a great chance for a 3-1 lead in a 4-on-1 breakaway, but striker Willian Jose had his shot saved by Leganes goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.

Sociedad will play at Eibar in the next round in its third straight away game because its Anoeta Stadium is being renovated.

Also Friday, Getafe beat Eibar 2-0 at home with goals from Angel Rodriguez and Jorge Molina.

Defending champion Barcelona plays at promoted Valladolid on Saturday, while Real Madrid is at Girona on Sunday.
