Which January signings should you consider for your fantasy football team?

    1 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £5.0m

Arsenal fans were made to agonise until Deadline-Day for their club-record signing.

But boy, was it worth the wait.

After snapping up his former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United last week, the Gunners made another major signal of intent by signing the Gabonese striker.

The former African Player of the Year is genuinely one of the best strikers in the world right now, with only Robert Lewandowski scoring more than him in the Bundesliga this season.

What’s more, he notched a total of 141 goals in 212 appearances across all competitions for BVB over five seasons.

You can get him in your team RIGHT NOW in time for your Dream Team Weekender line-up, while Dream Team Classic players will be pleased to know he’s priced at a reasonable £5.0m.

    2 Aymeric Laporte – £4.0m

Aymeric Laporte completed his move to Manchester CityOne very happy Laporte

Pep Guardiola finally snapped up a decent rotation-option defender for his side, having chased down the likes of Jonny Evans, Inigo Martinez and Samuel Umtiti in recent months.

Aymeric Laporte joined from Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday for £57m, and was thrown straight in against West Brom on Wednesday – playing 90 minutes in their 3-0 win and earning a cool eight points for the few Dream Team managers who’ve already picked him.

He’ll be up against Burnley this weekend, and will be keen to get in ahead of the injured John Stones and the seldom seen Vincent Kompany.

What’s more, considering the Clarets form lately (compared to City’s) we fancy the odds of the Spaniard gaining another clean-sheet bonus.

    3 Theo Walcott – £4.5m

Everton’s new signing will be up against his former employers Arsenal this weekend, after getting off the mark for his new club during the week.

The 28-year-old – who left the Emirates in early January after a 12-year stay – scored twice in the Toffees 2-1 win over Leicester, earning a very tasty 18 points in the process.

Will he come back to haunt the Gunners on Saturday evening?

    We sure hope so.

    4 Islam Slimani – £3.3m

Newcastle desperately needed a new striker with goal-scoring pedigree and Premier League experience.

And in the end, Islam Slimani certainly ticks both of those boxes.

The Algerian struggled to make an impact at Leicester since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2016, but only scored eight goals at the King Power.

However, he had a very impressive track record previously, netting 57 goals in 109 games during a three-year stay in Lisbon.

A regular role at Newcastle – with his first game coming against Crystal Palace at the weekend – could bring out the goals in him again.

    5 Lucas Moura – £3.5m

Lucas MouraSpurs fans will hope that Lucas Moura can rediscover his form from his Sao Paulo days

    Well, look at this?

Spurs’ Deadline-Day signing goes into the game at a very affordable £3.5m, which is cheaper than the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Willian and Ross Barkley.

He had a difficult time in Lugie 1 this season, playing for 72 minutes collectively, notching a single goal and assist.

But at Spurs, he should be more appreciated and will fill a void that Mauricio Pochettino has been desperately trying to sign players for; Wilfried Zaha, Ross Barkley and Leon Baily have been long-time rumoured targets.

Lucas moves to North London with a good reputation.

He managed a decent 68 goals or assists in 153 league appearances in France and has plenty of Champions League experience, which Spurs will value ahead of their clash with Juventus next month.
