Manchester United have been linked with Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti all this while, and now, they have boosted their chances of getting the Frenchman.
Manager Jose Mourinho is said to be an admirer of the player, who has made 40 appearances for the Catalan giants this season. He played a key role in their Spanish league title win besides the Copa del Rey.
According to a report in L’Equipe, Umtiti will not be staying put at Barca, as he is looking for a move away from Spain, with United being a real possibility.
The report further adds that a senior Barca official has admitted that the centre-back could leave the La Liga winners this summer.

Umtiti is said to be demanding a higher salary despite having three years left on his current contract at Camp Nou. This, in turn, has seen him stalling a new offer at the club, as it doesn’t meet his requirements.
United have been on red alert since finding out about the Frenchman’s possible availability in the summer of 2018. The star defender has a £52m buyout clause in his contract, and Jose is believed to be interested in getting him to Old Trafford.
But, which player will Umtiti end up replacing at the Theatre of Dreams remains a major question, given the fact that the Red Devils possess a plethora of central defenders.
