England are blessed with possibly the best number nine in the world in Harry Kane.
But could they have had the privilege of calling another lethal hitman as they prepare to face Colombia in the World Cup round of 16?
Ironically, the subject in question is the man they should fear the most ahead of their first World Cup knockout fixture for eight years.

But the Monaco striker’s international career could have taken a very different route, so much so that he could have been lining up for England rather than against them on Tuesday night.
It has emerged that Falcao’s great grandfather was an accountant called George King who hailed from Selby in North Yorkshire.
Reuters Falcao with a Yorkshire accent? Stranger things have happened[/caption]
King moved to South America in 1932, married and fathered Falcao’s grandmother Garcia.
Two generations later Radamel was born, while his father desperately tried to get his son a British passport in a bid to earn him a move to Europe as a teenager.
His application was rejected but Falcao Senior, speaking to the Daily Mail in 2014, has said he has always been ‘proud’ of his English blood.

So there you have it.
Instead of Kane versus Falcao – likely the pivotal duel on Tuesday night – it could have been Kane and Falcao wreaking havoc against a Colombian defence.

The Peru Captain was set to miss out on the World Cup after FIFA imposed a ban on the 34-year-old following his positive test for cocaine.
To show their support for the disgraced striker, all three captains from the opposing teams in Group C came together to see what they could do.
The captains wrote to FIFA insisting that Guerrero’s ban was disproportionate, as he didn’t knowingly ingest the drug, nor did he seek to gain an advantage.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a hot topic for any and all football enthusiasts around the world.
The Portuguese forward is widely considered the best player in the world, and showed his class recently in the World Cup, where he fired Portugal to an entertaining 3-3 draw against Spain thanks to a hat-trick that will live long in the memory of football fans.
His importance to the game as a whole cannot be doubted, and since his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009, reports of a return have been rampant to say the least.
Always one for creating suspense, Ronaldo himself has been coy over his future, unwilling to fully commit to his current side and sparking rumours of a release in the process.

Now, an Italian report is claiming that not only is the 33-year-old interested in returning to Old Trafford, but he will move back to his former employers this summer itself, once the World Cup is completed.

Contrary to this report, Real Madrid have made it clear that if any club wants to even start negotiations over Ronaldo, they will first have to meet the €1bn release clause slapped on him by the Galacticos to scare off any possible interest for their talisman.
However, amid confusion over the resignation of Zinedine Zidane and the controversial subsequent appointment of Julen Lopetegui, rumours of a frustrated Ronaldo are present now more than ever, and could lead to his monumental departure from the Bernabeu, which will be historic to say the very least.

Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United back in 2003 under Sir Alex Ferguson, and was far from the player we know today.

Liverpool sent a giant red balloon onto the pitch to see if Alisson could spot the difference between that and a football, it has been reported.
The Brazil goalkeeper was spotted popping the ‘beach ball’ towards the end of the game which they drew with Switzerland.
But according to unofficial Liverpool insider Lee Satchell, the inflatable was actually a tactic to test if Alisson would make the same mistake Reina did back in 2009.
DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP It’s not too late to sign up to this summer’s brilliant game!! Yep, that’s not a footballAFP or licensorsLuckily for Alisson, he passed with flying colours.
Instead of doing a Reina and trying to save the balloon instead of the football, Alisson walked forward and calmly popped the large balloon.
“John Henry was very impressed with how Alisson dealt with our sneaky tactic,” said Satchell.
“We thought it could never happen until Reina managed it, but we wanted to make double sure Alisson wouldn’t embarrass us again before we spent all our money replacing the brialliant Loris Karius.
“Yes, he might have conceded those Champions League goals but at least Karius has never been fooled by a beach ball.
“The only worry is that now Real Madrid have seen Alisson’s ability to spot the difference, they might be even more interested.”

Liverpool fans were quick to praise the Brazilian keeper for his balloon recognising skills.

DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP It’s not too late to sign up to this summer’s brilliant game!! Russia got off to a flyerGetty Images - GettyTo make things even better, we’ve just added a host of new players to the game that can be picked RIGHT NOW.
And to help you decide, we’ve picked seven of the best new faces that could make a serious difference to your line-up.
7 Lucas Hernandez – £2.0mAP:Associated Press Will Hernandez make it into your fantasy football team?[/caption]
Hernandez has been a favourite at Atletico Madrid this season and will seemingly be an important member of France’s World Cup squad.
He’s also impressively cheap.
6 Corentin Tolisso – £2.0mReuters Two markers? No problemo[/caption]
Tolisso made headlines last summer when he joined Bayern Munich from Lyon, breaking the transfer record for a German club in the process.
And the Frenchman proved to an important member of their Bundesliga-winning side, scoring 10 goals in all competitions and slotting in rather well between James Rodriguez and Thiago Alcantara.
5 Giovani Lo Celso – £2.0mAFP or licensors What can we expect from this creative midfielder?[/caption]
Rather surprisingly, this guy has been a mainstay in Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield this season.
Formerly a No. 10, Lo Celso has reinvented himself as an all-round central midfielder for the Ligue 1 champions and he could be one to watch at the World Cup.
4 Lucas Torreira – £2.0mEPA Arsenal fans should be very excited[/caption]
Arsenal fans take note, because this guy is very close to joining the Gunners this summer.
The Sampdoria midfielder had a blockbuster season in Serie A, ending the campaign with a WhoScored rating of 7.17 and is a wanted man by new Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
Considering Uruguay have been drawn into a group with Russia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the South American’s could run riot with him pulling the strings.
3 Fred – £2.5mEPA Marcelo’s picking Fred for his fantasy football team[/caption]
While we’re fairly confident Torreira will be turning out in the Premier League next season, Fred is already a done-well.
Man United confirmed the signing of the Brazilian earlier this month and we’re pretty excited to see him alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in United’s midfield next season.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping a close eye on him in Russia, but just how much he’ll play for Brazil we really don’t know – but we reckon he’s well worth a place in the team just for his skill from set-pieces alone.
2 Rodrigo – £2.5mEPA Rodrigo could be a big threat for Spain[/caption]
Remember him, Bolton fans?
Rodrigo had a fairly uneventful season in the north-west during the 2010-2011 season, but has grown into quite a deadly forward for La Liga giants Valencia.
Last season, he hit 16 goals in Spain’s top-flight to help secure his place in the national team and will be hoping to get in ahead of Diego Costa and Iago Aspas in attack.
1 Goncalo Guedes – £3.0mAP:Associated Press How many will Guedes score at the World Cup?[/caption]
From one Valencia star to another.
Guedes was one of the most exciting youngsters to play in La Liga last season, having joined Los Che on a season-long loan in the summer.
His early-season form was particularly impressive and he’s been a rumoured Arsenal and Liverpool target for the last year, while he’s more than likely to be a starter for Portugal at the World Cup.
You may have missed the first game – but that doesn’t mean you miss out on Dream Team World CupWe’ve got some good news for those poor timekeepers among you that didn’t quite sign up to play Dream Team World Cup before the opening game kicked off.
The curtain raiser saw the two lowest ranked sides in the tournament do battle, so as a result the popularity for the players on show was minimal at best.
In fact, no Russian nor Saudi Arabian player has been selected by more than 1% of Dream Team World Cup managers.
That means entering late really isn’t much of a disadvantage at all because very few people have scored any points so far.
Friday is when the tournament really kicks into action though, so make sure you act fast over Thursday night and Friday morning.

FIFA 19 will be arriving on Xbox 360 and PS3, putting an end to rumours that last year’s game was the final version on those consoles.
Roughly 97 per cent of FIFA 18 copies sold were for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with the Nintendo Switch edition accounting for one per cent.
The PS3 made up less than that, while the 360 sold marginally more – sparking rumours that EA was set to ditch the hardware.
FIFA 18 on Xbox 360 and PS3 did not use Frostbite and looked significantly worseHowever, this year’s game has been listed on a number of retail sites – although, as per last year’s version, there’s been very little improved.
Dubbed the ‘Legacy Edition’, it’s described as pretty much the same game as the past two years – just with updated menu presentation.
Frostbite technology will not be used, rather the same IGNITE Engine as FIFA 16.

FIFA Ultimate Team on FIFA 19 Legacy Edition will not include FUT ICONS or The Journey, either.
FIFA 19 on last-gen will look absolutely nothing like thisDespite the PS3 and Xbox 360 being more than 10 years old, there are still thousands of gamers who, for whatever reason, are yet to upgrade.
In this respect, it’s a good move from EA as, not only do they ensure that as many people as possible play the game, but they’re covering every aspect of the market to get as much mileage out of the ageing hardware.

Let’s start with the fact he’s coming off the back of a 40-goal season for PSG.
Take that, Guingamp!REUTERS“Anyone can score in a farmers league,” we hear you mutter.
Okay, how about the fact he scored seven goals in eight games in the Champions League, a competition generally considered to be free of agricultural workers?
His international record is more relevant though right?
You’ll be pleased to hear he was the top scorer in South American qualifying.
Ten goals put him comfortably ahead of Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Gabriel Jesus and the rest.
Responsible for some of the best expressions in world footballAP:Associated PressForget the past, let’s look to the immediate future.
Uruguay have been gifted about as easy of a group as you could hope for at a World Cup.
They play Egypt first, who are likely to be without the recovering Mohamed Salah, before facing Saudi Arabia and a hopeless Russia side.
Cavani could plunder five goals in the group stages alone.
Almost like playing against a load of farmers…ANDRES STAPFFSome of you are probably hesitant to put him in your team because of doubts about how he can co-exist with Luis Suarez.
It’s a fair point.
In the past, Cavani has been made to play out left to accommodate the Barcelona goal machine.
These days however, the two form a lethal striker partnership.
If anything, Cavani is the man tasked with providing the finishing touch.
Double troubleEPAAnd finally… at £5.0m he’s very affordable.
Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero are all priced higher than El Matador and face tougher opponents in the group stages.
To summarise, we’ve got an in-form forward, playing in his preferred position, for a team who are heavy favourites to top their group.
And at £1.0m cheaper than his equals to boot.
Got to be worth a punt, surely?
